Karate-do is a martial art, which means you must stick to a moral code.

The Karate moral code

  • Self-control: knowing how to remain humble and serene even when you start feeling angry.
  • Courage: commit oneself to a cause by overcoming one’s fear.
  • Generosity: be devoted and selfless.
  • Respect: know how to treat people and things with respect.
  • Honor: follow a moral code and have an ideal to behave with dignity and respect.
  • Fidelity: duty and the inescapable necessity to keep one’s promises and respect one’s commitments.
  • Righteousness: follow the duty line and never deviate from it; know how to make a just and reasonable decision without showing any sign of weakness.
  • Humility: know how to be modest and how to keep the beginner’s spirit; it is also to remain oneself in defeat as in victory.
  • Kindness: show a high sense of humanity and be respectful of life.
  • Sincerity: know how to express oneself with one’s heart, not with one’s mind.
