Karate-do is a martial art, which means you must stick to a moral code.
The Karate moral code
- Self-control: knowing how to remain humble and serene even when you start feeling angry.
- Courage: commit oneself to a cause by overcoming one’s fear.
- Generosity: be devoted and selfless.
- Respect: know how to treat people and things with respect.
- Honor: follow a moral code and have an ideal to behave with dignity and respect.
- Fidelity: duty and the inescapable necessity to keep one’s promises and respect one’s commitments.
- Righteousness: follow the duty line and never deviate from it; know how to make a just and reasonable decision without showing any sign of weakness.
- Humility: know how to be modest and how to keep the beginner’s spirit; it is also to remain oneself in defeat as in victory.
- Kindness: show a high sense of humanity and be respectful of life.
- Sincerity: know how to express oneself with one’s heart, not with one’s mind.
