Although awareness is growing, women are more at risk than men every day. In France, nearly 62,000 women have been victims of rape and/or attempted rape. 580 000 women have also been sexually assaulted, which includes sexual touching and forced kissing. These numbers are even more frightening when you consider that in 2018, nearly 219,000 women were victims of abuse and violence by their own partners and/or ex-partners. Sadly, more and more women die each year after they’ve been beaten up by their husbands.

Ladies, it is time to react and learn to defend yourself! Here is an article dedicated to the consequences of a physical assault. All right, are you ready to take a self defense training dedicated to women? As you’ll see, self defense is an effective way to defend yourself against a potential aggressor.

What are you going to learn in a self defense training dedicated to women?

If you’re reading this, it means you’re determined to learn how to defend yourself. Congratulations, you are making the right choice. Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need to be a martial arts master to know how to defend yourself. All you need to do is develop your reflexes by attending a few sessions.

To begin with, the first step is to learn how to control and manage your stress, but also your fears. These feelings are your worst enemies in case of aggression. And your aggressor knows it. The most important thing is not to let him take the upper hand. Besides, he will certainly be surprised to see that you are able to defend yourself and will probably run away very quickly. This way, you will be able to stop the aggression immediately, and even if he is a bit stupid (and/or determined) and a close fight is inevitable, you will thank your instructor for teaching you self defense.

Second important point: defend yourself against your potential attackers. This time, the initiation to combat sports is real and you enter the “heart of the matter”. But be careful, self defense is mainly there to teach you to anticipate and defend yourself with easy movements.

Krav-Maga

It is certainly the most widespread self defense discipline nowadays, because it allows you to deal with attacks coming from all directions. In a weak position, if you are strangled, you will quickly be able to escape. This requires knowledge of tactical fighting techniques, the sensitive points of the human body and offers the opportunity to increase your chances of survival. Also, your analytical skills will be much sharper than before, which can help you turn the situation to your advantage.

Finally, unlike a classical martial art, learning Krav Maga does not require several years to assimilate even if only the basics!

Boxing

The second popular sport is boxing, which is a little more “punchy” than krav maga, but just as effective. Knowing the right placements, the right impacts, chaining simple but effective combinations and knowing how to block the blows, this is what you will learn thanks to this combat sport, in the dojo! You will also develop your agility, your speed and your power.

Of course, these are only two examples among many others, because we could also mention karate, judo, Jiu Jitsu, aikido, Thai boxing and street boxing, Pencak silat, and many other disciplines.

Something you shall never do in case of an assault

A small reminder, which can help anyone, during an attack, never attack your opponent. You are the victim, not the aggressor. Don’t switch roles otherwise it may backfire… Moreover, keep in mind that self defense only applies if you respond with the same intensity as the attacker. Once you have subdued or repelled your attacker, do not engage in conflict, run away, period.

Attend a self defense training dedicated to women

Attending a self defense course for women is beneficial, because the learning methods take into account the female morphology and the difference in strength and physique between the aggressor (often a male) and you. Obviously, self defense offers an interesting life comfort, since you do not only learn to defend yourself, but you will also:

  • Have a better shape;
  • Surpass your limits and face your fears;
  • Avoid pressure and stress (even work-related);
  • Be serene and enhance your self-confidence;
  • Feel good in your body and in your head, etc.
